A day of Planned Fun in Covent Garden

Do you ever run short of ideas when it comes to birthday gifts for your partner?  If you really want to give them an experience to remember I recommend a recent day I recently spent with my girlfriend in Covent Garden.

6.30 AM – An early start to the day saw us up at 6.30 AM to catch the train from the south coast to London; the main part of the day would be spent at a spa, as I had bought my girlfriend beauty gift vouchers for a sanctuary spa day starting at 9am.

The Spa day – 9.00 AM – 6.00 PM – I knew the day would please my girlfriend enough to forget about the early start but didn’t realize that I would enjoy it too, spending most of my time in the pool and Jacuzzi, I left all the beauty stuff to her. I have to say as fun as everything was; I think an hour massage would have been enough to relax me rather than a full nine hours, nevertheless afterwards I felt fully refreshed and ready for the next stage – dinner.

A for day spa for one person cost around £70

Maxwells Bar and Grill – 7.00 PM – There are a plethora of eateries in Covent Garden, as you can imagine, and we opted for Maxwells Bar and Grill.  Maxwells menu comprises of large burgers and prime cuts steaks and they didn’t disappoint.  The service was swift, the food hot and tasty and reasonably priced too.  It was an altogether pleasant experience that set us up nicely for the main event.

A meal for two cost us around £50 including some drinks and dessert.

8.00 PM – Our next stop was the New London Theater; we had tickets to see the play War Horse. I had never been to a real west end play and was not disappointed.  If you haven’t heard of War Horse this trailer will show how life-like the Horse puppets are, with every tiny detail of movement accounted for.  The story line is strong and engaging, you can see why Hollywood is making a big screen version of the story – it was a great end to the evening.

Tickets range from around £30-£55 and are worth every penny.

11AM – Of course we could have gone on to hit the various bars and clubs, but we chose to get the long train back down south, exhausted and our heads filled with happy memories, we had a day I can highly recommend.

PS. – Don’t take the stairs a Covent Garden Underground

About the guest blogger I bought my beauty gift vouchers for the sanctuary spa day in advance although it’s possible to visit as a walk-in.
